Cobra Kai: Season 6 – Everything You Need to Know

Cobra Kai gave us the sequel we deserved but didn’t think we needed. Who would’ve thought that a continuation to the original The Karate Kid movies would do this well after all these years? The show’s combination of top-notch karate fights, old characters evoking nostalgia, and new characters finding their way into viewers’ hearts warranted it to reach five seasons. But will they go further beyond with a sixth season?

Thankfully, Netflix renewed Cobra Kai for Season 6 in January 2023. However, this’ll be the show’s final outing since it was confirmed that Season 6 is the last season. As we reach its end, here’s what you should know about Cobra Kai: Season 6.

When Is Cobra Kai: Season 6 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, Cobra Kai: Season 6 has no official release date. While the show has been officially renewed, the production was delayed due to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strikes against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

Luckily, the WGA strikes ended on September 27 after they struck a deal with AMPTP, so the writers can finally start writing Cobra Kai: Season 6 once again. Jon Hurwitz, one of the series creators, also acknowledged this in a tweet after he heard the news. At this rate, Cobra Kai: Season 6 may be released around 2024 or early 2025.

Season 6 will also be Cobra Kai’s final season, as the team has decided to end the series once and for all. Series creator Josh Heald made a statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, mentioning: “Our day one goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we’ve always imagined. So, it is with immense pride and thankfulness that we are able to announce that achievement. The upcoming Season Six will mark the conclusion of Cobra Kai.”

What Is Cobra Kai: Season 6 About?

Although Season 5 seemingly closed off several conflicts, they still left a couple of plot threads hanging for them to explore in Cobra Kai: Season 6. Of course, there’s the upcoming Sekai Taikai, which is set up to be the series’ biggest tournament yet. While Miyagi-Fang is expected to compete, it’s unclear if Cobra Kai will get to claim their spot, considering the previous season’s events.

Season 6 will also have to bring closure to the series since it’ll be the last season. This means we might see Johnny reclaim Cobra Kai again and maybe even Kreese making amends with him. Still, there’s a chance that Kreese will be the antagonist for Season 6 after he escaped from prison last season.

Cobra Kai: Season 6 Confirmed Cast

While the writers’ strike has ended, the same cannot be said for the actors over at SAG-AFTRA. Nonetheless, you can expect the main cast to return once their union reaches a deal with the AMPTP. The following are expected to reprise their roles for Cobra Kai: Season 6:

When it eventually airs, Cobra Kai: Season 6 will be available on Netflix. Initially, the series started on YouTube Red, now known as YouTube Premium, before moving to Netflix for its third season. There’s no news that Cobra Kai will move again, so it seems it’ll be staying with Netflix for its farewell season.
