Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Giving Away a New Round of Free Items

Nintendo announces another round of free content available to download for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players.

Nintendo announces additional content that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players can download for free. Following a lengthy development period, Nintendo proved that good things come to those who wait as Tears of the Kingdom quickly garnered both critical and commercial acclaim. While using the foundation established in Breath of the Wild, the newest Legend of Zelda title expanded the gameplay to include a massive underground world, floating islands in the sky, as well as bringing back dungeon style levels to complete.

However, the most compelling gameplay element for most Zelda players was the ability to use a new mechanic called Ultrahand. Essentially replacing the Sheikah Slate, Ultrahand enabled players to pick up items and objects and use Fuse to combine them together. As such, players have managed to craft all sorts of unique contraptions including vehicles, mechs, devices to make gameplay easier, as well as traps and torture devices for many of the game's creatures and enemies. To help foster that creativity from the community, Nintendo announced a new round of free content.

From the Switch, players will want to check out the News section where an easy to miss announcement is waiting for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom fans. Under the guise of an in-universe news announcement, players can pick up three items for download: an Octo Balloon, Zonai Rocket device, as well as a Travelers Shield. The rundown reveals a few common fuses for these items including fusing the Balloon to the shield to slowly float around, or fusing the rocket to the shield which will quickly propel the player straight up.

To redeem the items, players should select the News icon from the main dashboard, while will pull up the latest stories available. Continue scrolling through the options until a Tears of the Kingdom specific story appears with the title "Shields - perfectly designed for...flight?!" Select the story to open it up and there should be an option to "Play Now" which will open the game. Upon loading the save, Link will be gifted the three items, perfect for crossing gaps or reaching higher elevations.

The in-game creativity has seemingly inspired Tears of the Kingdom fans outside of the game as well. Recently, Zelda fans have started making real-life versions of some of the Tears of the Kingdom recipes such as the Hylian Tomato Pizza and Wildberry Crepes to name a few. Players shared the in-game version side by side with how the food actually came out.
