Meemaw actress, Annie Potts' old photo shows just how much she looks like Mary Cooper in Young Sheldon. Both Meemaw and Mary were first introduced in The Big Bang Theory, but CBS further explores their characters in the prequel. As Young Sheldon breaks away from The Big Bang Theory, the family sitcom is able to tackle the pair's relationship that is separate from their ties to Sheldon.

Ahead of Young Sheldon season 7, Reddit user @SillyAverage5705 points out just how much a young Potts looks like her on-screen daughter. Check out the images below:

The slideshow includes Potts' old black and white photo and a more recent image of Perry. Looking at the images, the two closely resemble each other, as is pointed out in the comment section.

What Happened To Meemaw & Mary After Young Sheldon

The events of Young Sheldon take place before The Big Bang Theory. This allowed CBS to introduce older versions of Meemaw and Mary in the nerd-centric sitcom. For starters, Meemaw appears to have been more reserved in the years following the events of the prequel. In her one and only visit to Pasadena, she was particularly curious about Amy and her relationship with Sheldon. Unlike her Young Sheldon counterpart, The Big Bang Theory's Meemaw was strict and even mean.

Mary, on the other hand, remained relatively the same. However, there are still some discrepancies between her Young Sheldon story and what she revealed in The Big Bang Theory. For starters, she bad-mouthed George at every turn and painted him as if he was a no-good father when in reality, he worked hard to provide for his family. She also didn't mention that she, too, had some kind of emotional affair with Pastor Rob, who didn't appear in The Big Bang Theory.

How CBS handles their stories after Sheldon inevitably moves to California after graduating college is currently uncertain. The network can shift its storytelling from Young Sheldon to The Coopers to continue taking advantage of the family comedy's popularity. That way, it can fully focus on everyone else in Sheldon's clan, who all have great arcs on their own.
